Age of Conan Class System

These are just the basics - if you're looking for something more in-depth, we can recommend the excellent AoC guides written by the game guide experts at Killer Guides.

Unlike other MMORPG's users don't pick a specific class at the intial character creation screen.  Instead users pick specific height, size, shape and other bodily features to go along with the gender and race of the desired character.  At level five players choose a specific archtype that fall into the categories of Soldier, Mage, Priest, and Rogue.  Each Archtype bring specific advantages and disadvantages along with archtype specific moves.  Once players really get intuned with the game and achieve a level of 20 they are able to choose one of several classes that fall under their chosen Archtype.  One interesting is that not every race can choose every class in the given archtype so choose carefully when you create your character as to not hinder you from choosing your favorite class.  The list of classes in the archtype are as follows.

Soldier
 Guardian
 Conquerer
 Dark Templar

Priest
 Priest of Mitra
 Scion of Set
 Druid of the Storm
 Bear Shaman

Rogue
 Barbarian
 Assassin
 Ranger

Mage
 Lich
 Necromancer
 Herald of Xotili
 Demonologist

Prestige Classes

These are just the basics - if you're looking for something more in-depth, we can recommend the excellent AoC guides written by the game guide experts at Killer Guides.

Age of Conan introduces what they like the call "Prestige Classes" that players will be able to obtain at a higher level.  The four classes are "The Craftor", "The Commander", "The Lord" and "The Master".  All of these classes have their own advantages that can be used in solo or group play and they all have specific and beneficial skills that will make a great difference in battle.  For instance the Commander can use specific formations that are not normally used and the Lord has certain "rights" when building cities and gathering resources.  The Master is actually given control of a follower who will be able to help in his battles.  Here are a few of the benefits that each prestige class is given.

Lord
Has placement rights in regard to the keep
Is able to build Towers which will automatically defend against attack
Each lord in a guild raises the resource gathering of gold nuggets for ALL guild members.  This rule however is for only up to 30 Lord's in a guild.
Each Lord in a guild raises the experience point bonus for all guild members.  This has a limit of up to 20 Lord's in a guild
Lord's have access to to Alchemey and Architect crafting skills

Commander
Adds one additional maximum member to a team
Is able to build barracks that will bring forth soldiers to protect the village
Similar to the Lord, each commander ina guild raises the resource gathering of iron for all guild members.  Limit up to 30 commanders
Can receive "tatical plans" that only Commander's may know
 Has the weaponsmith crafting skill

Crafter
Can build facilities in the guild village(such as smithies)
Increases the rescources gathering of wool for all guild members.  Limit up to 30 crafters
Is open to all forms of crafting

Master
Has access to a single follower but being in a guild gives access to more powerful followers
Is able to build stables which will increase the quality of mounts.
Increases the resources gathering of stone for all guild members.  Limit up to 30 Masters.
Can become a crafter in Armotsmith.

The Crafting skills that are being planned on launch are the normal Weaponsmith, alchemy, armorsmithing, gemcutting and artchitecture.  All of these skills will be beneficial to both the crafter and their allies.
Something special about Age of Conan is the the game is centered around a character's feats.  There will be hundred's of feats in this game that range from allowing you to dress in certain armor while one will allow players to use certain abilities.  This system allows users to create a variety of unique characters which almost every user loves.  Feat's are gained every few levels and players will have to pay to get training from computer controlled characters from around the world.  At launch Age of Conan will have a level cap of 80 which will give players an opportunity not only to level but to also get well intuned with their character.
