City of Villains

Off the coast of Bermuda in the Atlantic Ocean lies Rogue Island, once a haven for cutthroat pirates, now a bastion for a new and powerful villain group, Arachnos, led be the ambitious Lord Recluse, arch nemesis of the world’s most powerful superhero, Statesman. Locked away in Zigursky Penitentiary, you vow to break out and seek revenge on all superheroes, but first there‘s the local competition to contend with. Hone your criminal skills and make a name for yourself and soon those do-gooder fools of Paragon City won’t stand a chance.

City of Villains is a MMORPG based on the superhero comic book genre and is integrated with City of Heroes. Character creation in this MMO is a detailed process, making for a very diverse assortment of characters in the game. Several improvements over City of Heroes accompany City of Villains which include an instant-access mission system, PvP areas for hero vs. villain battles, the ability of players to build Super-Villain bases, better graphics, and rag doll physics. Super-Villain bases are similar to guilds in other MMOGs, allowing members to, among other things, meet privately, travel directly to specific zones and craft base improvements using NPC “salvage”.

City of Villains' gameplay focuses on missions, PvP and PvE. Standard missions are accessible via a newspaper and are diverse, ranging from bank robberies to kidnappings in addition to those already offered in City of Heroes. Unique missions include the Supergroup mission (which allows a team of villains to tackle a difficult task) and Mayhem Missions (which are instanced missions involving harassing Paragon City’s citizens, robbing their businesses, destroying their property, and otherwise causing general mayhem within a limited time frame). PvP can involve one-on-one combat, multi-opponent arena combat, or even elaborate Super-Villain base raids.
